Aroostook Washington Workforce Investment Board

The Aroostook Washington Workforce Investment Board (AWWIB) is one of the state’s four Local Workforce Investment Boards. it provides direction and oversight for workforce development and training programs and services in Aroostook and Washington Counties--a region designated as Local Area I.

AWWIB envisions a region where businesses can thrive and people will want to work and live, where skilled workers will have well paying jobs and affordable housing options that are sustainable over changing economic conditions.  To fulfill this vision, AWWIB directs the use of employment and training resources for the benefit of residents as well as current and future employers by nurturing strong partnerships, working in conjunction with local economic development initiatives, and being mindful of the needs of the local economy.
